Veterinary Nurse
Professional Interests
During my 20 years in the industry, surgical nursing has always been by favourite. I enjoy all aspects of surgery - from the intensity of the operating theatre to having that one on one quiet time with my patient while they recover.
Why I became a veterinary nurse
I just love animals! It is that simple.
Favourite animals
Now this is hard. I love all animals but if I was forced to choose, I would pick Guinea pigs, pigs and wombats (don’t tell my dog or cats!).
My animals
Myfanwe and Ringo are my quirky cats from the country full of personality and let’s just say idiosyncrasies! They get along well with my escape artist Kelpie named Jimmy. All my animals are rescue pets, Jimmy was adopted as a puppy from Brightside Farm Sanctuary, and dear Ringo was a stray found wandering the highway in Woodbridge, covered in fleas and with his eyes glued shut from severe cat flu. I love them all and could not imagine life without them.
Hobbies
Walking my dog Jimmy, live music and camping
What do you like about working at Hobart Community Veterinary Hospital
I like that I get to be a part of the bigger animal welfare picture. I find it rewarding to be able to help with the charity animals and that our clients can go onto payment plans meaning their pets still get treatment. The staff are an amazing group of people that I just love working with each day.
